Author: STARFOXANDWOLF Subject: The Loss of Fox Part 1 Posted: APRIL 04, 1998 21:19 This is my short saga story of the Star Fox team. This week's story, " The Loss of Fox." Enjoy this story!!! The team entered Fortuna without any problems. Their mission was to investigate the planet's base. " This looks easy," squawked Falco. "Do not underestimate Andross," advised Peppy. The team headed towards the base silently and having no confrontation with the minions. The cold atmosphere had an effect on Fox's wings, though. "I'm having trouble with the G-Diffuser, ROB," said Fox. "The G-Diffuser will give you trouble, Fox. The G-Diffuser can handle extreme temperatures," informed ROB. "What is the temperature, ROB?" asked Peppy. "- 356 degrees." "Brrrrrr!" shivered Slippy. In less then 5 minutes the fog which once surronded the Arwing turned into minions. More then 60, swarming around the base protecting it. "Nice Welcome!" Falco said sarcastically. "Let's split up!" said Fox. The team obyed to their leader and did so. Lasers sprayed everywhere. But since the Star Fox team were so good, they didn't need apply! But Slippy was something else. "Fox, get this guy off me!!" "Geez, Slippy!" said Falco. "Shut Up! Falco!" "Both of you cut it out! We need to concentrate on taking these guys out!" said Fox. Fox pulled a somersault and locked on the bogeys behind Slippy. The laser got hot and Fox released the laser. The minions never knew what hit 'em. "Thanks Fox!" Slippy thanked. "It's nothin' Slip." Soon after awhile the minons were destroyed and there was nothing left to do. "What now, oh great fearless leader??" asked Falco. "I don't know. ROB?" "Your mission is not complete. A bomb has been planted at the base," informed ROB. "Fox, you had better disable it. You got bomb training in the Cornerian Flight Academy right??" asked Peppy. "Okay, I'll do it, you guys cover me." "Can't let you do that Star Fox," taunted Wolf O' Donnel. "What?? Star Wolf?? It can't be!!" Slippy said scared. "Peppy long time no see!" said Pigma Dengar. "You, dirty pig! You'll pay!" yelled Peppy. "Let's take of these guys first," said Fox. "No let us take care of you!" said Leon. The Star Fox team took evasive action on the Star Wolf team. Somersaults, U-Turns, lock-ons. Each move was used against Star Wolf effectively. "You're good but I'm better!" said Wolf. He pulled on to Fox's tail and locked on to Fox's Arwing. Wolf fired rapidly and destoyed Fox's wings. Fox tried to pull a somersault but he couldn't. "ROB!! What is happening!!" asked an impatient Fox. "Fox, I was wrong, your G-Diffuser has frozen up!! Your moves won't work. And now you will not be able to fly! I am so sorry." "Oh my god!" yelled Fox. His Arwing fell down to the ground and hit near the base. Wolf landed near Fox and found Fox unconscious. He picked him up and put him into his Wolfen. "Fox??!! What's happening? Oh, no! I'm coming Fox!" yelled Falco. "I don't think so," warned Leon. He kept Falco busy with his laser quck and pwerful laser shots. The team was so busy with Star Wolf they could not beat Wolf down to save Fox. "30 seconds to explosion!" ROB informed. "HA HA!! Looks we win today Star Fox! Or shall I say Star Group??" Wolf said. The rest of the team laughed and they took off of Fortuna leaving Fox's team badly damaged. Slippy nearly died since Fox was never there to help him out. "Who's going to take care of them bomb, now??" demanded Falco. "No one! We have to get outta here! No time!" Peppy replied. The team performed emergency maneuvers to get off Fortuna as fast as possible. They got out barely and looked into the distant space, not knowing what to do. "Fox.... Fox where are you??" asked Peppy. Slippy treaded a tear. "We need to dock in the Great Fox, guys," said Falco. "Okay, we need to figure out what to do." The team went back to the Great Fox without Fox for the first time. "Fox...... You're gone...." said Slippy. "We'll get him back Slip, we will" said Falco. "I sure hope so...." Okay, Peace...... ~Wolf~ Author: FOX747600 Subject: The Loss of Fox Part 1 Posted: APRIL 05, 1998 07:24 I have something to add to this story.. The team searched in vain for Star Wolf, but found nothing. Several days past. Slippy, who always came to the command center with smiles and sunshine, now just quietly moved to his station. Peppy was cranky and irritable, and so was Falco. "Why don't we continue the mission," said Falco, "he's likely dead anyway." "We're not going to find out what happened to him with that pessimistic attitude of yours! Now get with it Falco!" Then Slippy noticed something on his console. They picked up several Wolfen ships on Titinia. These ships were patroling a large building. Slippy knew Fox was inside! "Head down to launch bay 7," said Peppy in his best Fox-like voice, "We're going in!" As the team entered the atmosphere of Titania, Peppy felt strange that Fox was not in front. Because Peppy was closest to Fox, he was appointed leader of the team until Fox was rescued. Suddenly 4 wolfen ships appeared out of the sky and started firing. Peppy pulled a loop and locked on to Andrew. He fired, striking Andrew's engine. His craft crashed into a hillside, exploding in a spectacular fireball. "That's one down!" said Peppy. Falco was being pursued by Leon. Slippy came in from the side firing. But Leon did a barrel roll and deflected his shots. Falco was hit and had to return to the Great Fox. "I'm going after Pigma" said Peppy. He saw Pigma on Slippy's tail. He fired and Pigma's ship was destroyed. Falco chased Leon into a canyon. Falco had superior flying skills and made it through. But Leon didn't. Unfortunately, no one noticed that Wolf had gotten away. When the team went into the Star Wolf base, they found a note saying that Fox had been taken to Venom. He was going to be executed for his crimes against Andross within the next three days. "How are we going to get to Venom? The place is a hornet's nest!" "We'll find a way, Slip. We'll find a way..." Author: STARFOXALPHA Subject: The Loss of Fox Posted: APRIL 05, 1998 22:10 Let me take a turn in telling this story...After their failure to rescue Fox on Titania, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco returned to Great Fox...Using the NavCom system, ROB plotted a course through hyperspace directly to Venom...unfortunately, the course would take them right by Macbeth...they would have to stand and fight there..."Oh well," peppy said, "We can get some weapons and supplies after we take out their perimeter defenses..." As Great Fox came out of Hyperspace right near Macbeth, two Arwings launched from it's hangar...Leading the way into the atmosphere, Peppy said, "keep an eye on Slippy, Falco..." "I got him on my scanner," Falco replied...they closed in on the planet's surface as Great Fox flew down behind them, deploying the solitary prototype vehicle Slippy had been working on... "Geez, why didn't I give this thing anti-reflux stabilizers?" Slippy thought as he drove the landmaster along the bumby rocks of Mijaaro canyon, not far from the Keltos Phi weapons depot...two arwings sailed over his head, as he closed in on a slow moving train, headed for the depot...scanning the box cars, slippy pointed out one, and fired a surgical shot, severing it from the rest of the train..."ROB, tractor that car in..." Peppy said...as Great Fox's magnetic beam picked up the stranded box car, and lifted it into the docking bay... As Slippy rolled along, He heard beeb...then another, then three more...then a dozen...looking at hs scanner, he realized that there were several dozen fighters headed for them..."Stand by to deploy bombs!" Peppy shouted...at his signal, the three fired bombs into the swarm of minions, destroying most of them...only a few were left in the air...but they were closing in on falco... "This could be trouble..." he said in a concerned voice...as his shields were riddled with shots...then, to Peppy's horror, a Wolfen class fighter appeared behind the others..."Starwolf?" he thought..."but, why here?" Then, to his surprise, the wolfen fired a charge shot, vaporizing the swarm on Falco's tail... "Peppy, it's me..." came fox's voice over the comm channel... "FOX! You're okay! But how?" "It's a long story..." Fox replied... That's my part...next entry? Author: STEPHEN128 Subject: The Loss of Fox: Interlude Posted: APRIL 06, 1998 00:17 A brilliant, blue day graced the summer skies of Corneria City. The warm air seemed alive with excitement as a parade of Cornerian ships followed the streets below. Citizens lined the parade route watching the annual Cornerian air show. Among them was a young pup and his father. The elder fox, the great James McCloud, pointed upwards and stared at his son with a radiant smile. The young Fox McCloud gaped in awe at the sight as his father spoke. "I'm in the next part of the show, son! Watch for me!" Suddenly the whole image swirled into a black center leaving a haunting face in its place. The face of a maniacal scientist turned evil mastermind! "DAD!!...," screamed young Fox. And everything went black. The dream ended as a blurry-eyed Fox McCloud regained consciousness. "What happened?!," Fox asked as he scanned his surroundings. He was on board a freighter--tied to some pipes in the cargo hold. Reality slowly hit the pilot as he recalled being shot down by Wolf O'Donnel over Fortuna. "I'm being taken to Andross, no doubt! Well, there's GOT to be a way out of here. I can't leave my team hangin'. Andross won't have his way with ME!" The sly Fox glanced around. "No one else in here. Probably guards outside. What did they take from me... Nothing except my blaster. That's good news, but..." Fox tugged a bit on the cords binding his hands. Something seemed to give a little. He tried again at a different angle and the ropes gave way. "Wha??... I know Andross' troops aren't that smart, but StarWolf?" Not one to take chances, Fox freed himself and discretely peeked out the window to look for guards. "Only TWO lizard troops? This is looking too good. I think a little distraction is in order." Fox found a high-pressure steam valve and quickly turned it on. That end of the cargo bay became a wall of steam as red lights and a piercing alarm filled the bay. The troops rushed in not expecting Fox! "This can't be for real!" Fox thought as he dashed towards the freighter's massive hanger. "There'll be more guards coming--I'd better hurry!" The door to the hanger bay opened easily as Fox rushed in and saw a Wolfen-class fighter in perfect position for takeoff! The Wolfen's G-induction coils glowed and hummed as the nuclear core's plasma primed the engines. "Hey, this isn't bad, but I think our Arwings are more comfortable anyway," quipped Fox as he realized the hangar bay doors were still shut. "Nothing a pulsed laser can't take care of!" The giant doors were slowly bathed in a red glow as they buckled outward and gave way. Fox McCloud was a blur out of the bay as a horde of troops reached their fighters in hopes of pursuit. Out in the distance of space, and outside the range of Fox's local sensors, a faint metallic glimmer shown. Another Wolfen-class ship seemed idle as its pilot watched the events unfold. A wolfish grin twisted up the side of his grey face. "Andross won't be happy his troops let you escape, my esteemed foe, but I didn't want such a worthy adversary going to waste!" said Wolf O'Donnel. "We shall both live to fight again..." The Wolfen-class fighter pulled a loop and zoomed away to where the rest of the StarWolf team was waiting for its leader. None suspected what their commander had done that day. --Steve
