Author: SMUGGLER700 Subject: IS-Training Posted: JULY 04, 1998 13:36 The next morning, Smuggler 700 woke up in the bay of the Great Fox. He looked around the room in surprise. "Where am I?" He asked no one in paticular. To his surprise a computerized voice answered. "You are in Room 157 of the Great Fox." "Then meeting Fox...and Wolf...and the team... It wasn't a dream?" He asked. "If you mean the meeting last night, it was not a dream. The entire group on the Star Fox BBS has been selected for training." The voice answered. Smuggler 700 walked over to a communicator. He typed in the first name that came into his mind, The Luigi Fan. A holographic image of The Luigi Fan appeared. "What is it?" Luigi Fan asked. "So you're here too?" Smuggler asked. "Yeah." Luigi Fan answered. "Well then," Smuggler said, "What do we do?" Before Luigi Fan could answer, the computerized voice, who they later learned was R.O.B. 64, said. "Attention. All recruits are to meet in the conference room for training." --- As he walked, Smuggler recognized familiar people such as F.J. McCloud, KillerThunder, Penguinio, Catlina, and the rest in the passages. He shook his head in amazement. This was amazing. In the conference room, Fox said, "All of you will be trained in how to fly an Arwing, Blue Marine, and Landmaster Tank, in our simulators. All of you know what these are, right?" A chorus of "Yes," rang out. "Good." Fox smiled. "Just one question?" Killer Thunder asked. "What is it?" Fox said. "What's Wolf O'Donnel doing here?" He asked. "I thought you knew," Fox said, "He is joining us. He no longer is with Star Wolf. After realizing what Andross was going to do with James McCloud if they had captured him at Area 51, he came to us." "Oh." Killer Thunder said. --- The Luigi Fan spun around in a Zero-G training excercise. He floated through the chamber and spoke to F.J. "So, why do you think they picked us?" He asked. F.J. answered, "Since we're here, they must think that we're the best of the best. Makes me think that the whole thing was a plan from the beggining. Give Nintendo the idea for Star Fox to set up virtual training in case they ever needed any help. By playing Star Fox 64, we were realy doing space combat training." "Interesting theory." Luigi Fan said, "I tend to agree." --- In the meantime, Smuggler was in a Landmaster training simulator. He found it very similar to the 64 version, except this one actually shook and flipped. He finished the training course and exited the simulator. "How'd I do?" He asked Falco. "Excellent." The bird responded. --- After everyone had completed all the excersises, Fox spoke to them. "Well," He said, "We expected to have to disqualify some of you, but we didn't expect a number of this magnitude." A dismayed hush fell over the audience. Everyone wondered if they had been cut. Fox smiled. "No one is disqualified. Everyone made it. Welcome to the team." ---To Be Continued--- I've been working on this with The Luigi Fan via the message center. Thanks to all of you on the Star Fox 64 board for making this story possible. -Smuggler 700 Author: KILLERTHUNDER Subject: IS-Production Posted: JULY 04, 1998 21:11 I'm writing this in third person, so understand why I use my name instead of I. --------------------------------------------- "So Slippy, I heard you made this ship. What can it do?" KillerThunder asked, surprised by the ships vast amount of computers. "Many things. What is it you specifically want it to do?" Slippy responded with a smile. "I was wondering. Andross seems like he knows what he is doing. Able to control people, he knows his technology. But what if he found a way to get into the Great Fox computers. What would stop him?" "Our ship could stop him if needed." "Good. Next question, but almost the same idea. Could we possibly get into someone else's computer system?" "Absolutely. What are you thinking?" "I want to find the weakness of Andross and his army." "Great idea, but not easy." Slippy said. "Why not just go in there and blow everything up?" Falco said. "Do we know everything about their ships, and possibly about future ships?" KillerThunder said. "Currently, we know enough about the ships they use. But I doubt they will change ships drastically. It would require training." Peppy responded. "What's your idea?" F.J. said, thinking something, and wondering if anyone else was. "I want to see their ship specs and have Slippy duplicate anything that would help. It might require more training, but it may help." "More training? Awww." The whole group said, not wanting to learn again. "It would be annoying, but imagine if we could find something that would allow us to enter Andross' main ship as an Arwing, but our ship's computer would be making it look like we're Andross' ships. It's a stretch, but I want to go in there and find out his plans so we can be able to counter his plan." KillerThunder said, showing that he is awaiting his attempt to go after Andross. Author: RINGSHADOW Subject: IS-We come in Peace Posted: JULY 05, 1998 09:13 This is also in third person... "Uh, guys?" Ringshadow leaned on the wall, looking out a veiwport. "I just thought of something that may concern you." "Like what?" Wolf looked up. "Well, I don't suppose you've noticed the sattelites orbiting earth?" "Yeah, what about them?" "Those sattelites are Earth's eyes in the sky, so to speak, and they're watching us right now. Earth knows we're here, and it's pretty darn obvious that we've been getting ready for action." "Don't they know that we're here to help?" Asked Fox, mildly annoyed. "No one's told them, so how should they know?" Ringshadow replied. "Hate to criticize my own race, but humans tend to be rather brash. Unless informed of what's going on, they'll make their own conclusions, which is dangerous." "You're right, so what do we do about it?" "ROB, do we have any incoming radio signals?" "Yes, quite a few, in a lot of different languages. Can't understand a word of it, but i think they want to know who we are and why we're here." "Figures. Let's see...anything from NASA?" "Actually...yes." "Send something to them, like 'we come in peace' or something like that. Believe me guys, i get the feeling we'll be dodging laserbolts in the near future. Do we really want to be dodging Earth rockets?" "I have some serious doubts about your planet." Commented Falco. The human girl shrugged. "Can't really blame them for jumping to conclusions." She looked out the window again, hands shoved deep into pockets. "But you aren't the only one wondoring. How's the hacking coming?" "Slowly, but we're making progress." Said Killerthunder. "That's a good thing. While you're at it, why not check around for a list of prisoners." "Why do that?" Fox figured it out. "You want to see if my dad's on the list!" "Right. Here's what i figure, Fox: you came all this way to help us. So, to return the favor, i think we should help you on your homeplanet." "Before this, whenever i played StarFox I'd try to figure out how to rescue James." Said FJMcCloud. "Here's a chance that might just be worth the risk." Author: THELUIGIFAN Subject: IS-Deception of Power Re Posted: JULY 05, 1998 20:57 Some of you might have read the original, but it was only on here for about 5 minutes. The problem was the quotation marks didn't appear. Sorry. Hope this one works. ---Deception of Power--- A story of deciet. ----- He had a brown-grey coat of fur on his sleak body. His face was identical to that of Wolf O'Donnell. His voice, his eyes, and his snout were all identical to Wolf's. He was a wolf, of the O'Donnel family. His name was Coyote. And he would be essential for Andross' deceit to work. He entered a chamber filled with several influential Earth business men. They believed he was Wolf. He did not need to tell them otherwise. It would work better that way. But he did have the proof that Wolf and he were brothers. That would be essential for Andross' plan. He had vowed repeatedly to stop working for Andross after this assignment. But he remembered the futility of the last time he had retired from Andross. The monkey had forced other companies to refuse to higher him. He had been forced to return to Andross simply because Andross signed his paycheck. The wolf yearned to join Star Fox like his brother Wolf had just done. After quitting Andross, he had gone to Fox and asked to join. But Andross had let some information get to Fox about Coyote being a spy. He put those thoughts out of his mind. He must get down to business. He addressed the group of businessmen, "Governor Andross has instructed me to inform you that Earth is under siege by a team named Star Fox, with the assistance of the Cornerian government. My brother, Coyote, is part of that team. I am Wolf O'Donnel, member of Star Foxs competitor, Star Wolf." The businessmen whispered quietly for a moment until Coyote resumed speaking. "A few Earth leaders have agreed with Fox to turn Earth over to Star Foxs dictators. You must incite a rebellion, overthrow the Earth leaders, and sign power over to Andross. But beware: Those humans are desperate for power. You must be ready to refute their claims if they decide to claim that Andross, not Star Fox, is the dictator." The people talked excitedly among themselves. This was means for concern. Macrosofts leader, Jill Bates, stood up. She addressed the assembly. "This is very important. As the worlds richest women, I command all of you to help Andross as he wishes you too. This is even more important than debugging Wintel OS 99." --- On the Great Fox, F. J. McCloud and Fox held an urgent conversation. "This is terrible." Fox said, "Macrosoft and other companies have announced an alliance to free the Earth of 'Star Fox's dictatorship.' They urge people to help Andross fight us. Even in their new OS, they have messages with anti-StarFox messages. You must tell the rest of the group about this." F. J. was surprised, "But what about our message to N.A.S.A.?" He asked. Fox groaned. "Slippy just broke through into Andross' network. And the first thing he found was information about a fake sattelite planted to keep us from transmitting to Earth. It was the same sattelite we sent the message too." "Then we're in trouble." F. J. said tensly. "Yes." Fox said, "Ring Shadow was right, Humans are very untrusting. But we were too late. By the way, when you tell her, be sure to tell her that I'm grateful for her idea." "Will do, sir." F.J. said. --- F. J. walked to the nearest crew room, Penguinio's. He quickly told him the news. "Andross is a man of deceit. He saw that we were about to make ourselves public, so he starts a slandering campaign." Penguinio contemplated. "Yeah." F. J. said. "Now if we go public with the truth, people will just say that were trying to cover-up our evil." "F. J." Penguinio said, "I'll take Hall A, you take Hall B. We should alert everyone faster that way." --- Smuggler 700's fist shot into a lantern. The glass shattered, falling all over the room. F. J. had just told him the news, and S700 did not like it. "Goodness." F. J. said, "What a temper." "I know." S700 said. "I'm notorious for it back home." "Well," F. J. said, "If we just go around breaking lanterns, nobody will believe that we are truly in the right." "Yeah, yeah." S700 said. "But I don't want to get involved in any public relations. It's not my thing." "Someone has to do P.R." F. J. observed. "Otherwise, the Earth will stay in darkness and the cloud of sin will never leave it." "Cant have that happen," S700 admitted. --- The Luigi Fan lay on his bed, stunned. He had known that Andross would do something, but he hadnt known it would be this quick. Luigi Fan had just completed work on his assignment: A cool T.V. commercial to show how Star Fox could help earth. Then Penguinio had come in with the news that a rebellion was about to start against 12 Earth Leaders: Bill Kajak, Jason Scorpion, Josh Ice, Mack Roberts, Kiley Blake, Jackie Domino, Kenneth Redford, William Sawaya, Adam Sarn, Carl Jones, Katie Hashuni, and Isolder Hamps. He still didn't understand one thing. S.F. Intelligence, using Slippy's new computer, had just reported that those 12 were working for Andross. He knew Andross was evil, but why the treachery of breaking such an alliance. It only seemed like it would hurt his power. "Monkeys." Luigi Fan muttered, "They have no logic whatsoever. I used to think Andross had logic, just his nephew Andrew was crazy. But now..." --- The fat, balding figure of Kenneth Redford was easy to spot as he walked down the aisle at International Plaza, a haven for the twelve leaders Andross had selected. At first, Kenneth had doubted Andross' tactical skill. The ape had told him that before capturing Earth, he would make the planet plagued with outbursts of war. Kenneth hadn't believed Andross had that much power. Kenneth had been wrong. The recent rebel insurgences were just the start. Kenneth was one of the few that knew that Andross was counting on -and planning for- several other rebellions. While everyone was fighting, he would have a perfect chance to strike. The first of the missiles hit International Plaza. Andross had told them "when the first missile hits, message me." Most of the people in the city thought Andross would send reinforcements. Kenneth knew the truth. Kenneth walked over to the computer. He sent an AOL Instant Message to Andross. Andross quickly responded. The message read: "You fool. Did you really believe that I would help you. You will die. And it will help my plan. I dont care how many alliances I break. I will prevail. You are a pawn in a great game of chess. And I have just sacrificed you so that I may eventually have Fox in checkmate." A rocket shot through the roof of Redford's personal chamber. He had a split second before it exploded in a flare of fiery glory, taking his life with it. Or so it seemed... --- Burned and scarred, the 12 conspirators met up with Andross in the prearranged spot, in the sewers of International City. "I assume the security cameras show that you all are dead." Andross said coldly. "Yes." Bill Kajak coughed. "The emergency escape hatches functioned well. But if your missile had been off by 3 degrees..." Bill shuddered to think how close he had been to death. "Good." Andross sneered. "All the pieces in the puzzle are now in place. Earth will be ours." ---To Be Continued--- This chapter had a lot of ne surprises in it, so I might have to explain some more in another chapter. However, if you have a great idea to explain it with, you can. Thanks! The Luigi Fan Author: KILLERTHUNDER Subject: IS-Pondering Posted: JULY 05, 1998 21:21 "This doesn't make sense to me." KillerThunder said. "Why is it Andross is trying to make us look like the enemy?" "Because he wants humans to hate us." Falco said, wondering why such a question would be asked. "But why would Andross care about what humans thought?" KillerThunder shot back. "Good question." Fox said. "I don't think he would. In fact, he probably just wants to kill them all anyway." "Exactly, so why make us look like enemies. So someone will kill us. I doubt that. I think he would want that job." "Maybe there is something he doesn't want us to know. He has cut off our connection to Earth. Maybe he is trying to hid what is happening there from us." Peppy said in his wisdom. "What could be happening, though?" someone questioned. "We need to find that out. ROB, Slip, KillerThunder, forget Andross' ship. We need a communication link to Earth, and quick." Fox said. Author: RINGSHADOW Subject: IS-Use the Internet? And if i were us, I'd send a huge SOS to every single SF fan out there. 'StarFox needs your help! Don't support Andross, he lies!'" Ringshadow shrugged absently. "Tell you what. Why don't you guys discuss matters with the politicians, and a few of my counterparts and i work with our peers and fellow fans? By all means, some support is a great thing. I doubt that the other NSiders would think StarFox is evil." They just looked at her. "If you left that dummy sattelite up there that's not helping us much. Shoot it down if you haven't yet. Open a line to NASA, and while you're at it, talk to the politicians." "Pardon me for asking, but why would Bill Clinton listen to us?" She shrugged. "Many of us up here are just kids. He wouldn't leave us to die. If we can convince him, i think we can convince others." Author: KILLERTHUNDER Subject: IS-Technical Difficulties Posted: JULY 06, 1998 22:04 "What do you think has happened so far down there?" It was the question most were pondering. Those that weren't were just trying to think of a way to bypass that satellite. "Why don't we just blow it down?" Several had asked, but never went to do it. "Let's go then." Fox said. "Let's take it down." "Are you sure it's unguarded?" Peppy asked. "How can we know for sure without checking." Fox responded. So, out they went. Fox led. Behind came Falco, Peppy, Wolf, and anyone who joined them. They flew towards the satellite, curious of their surroundings. "Somethings not right." Falco suggested. "I agree." Peppy replied. For some reason, the satellite wasn't showing up on radar. "I wonder why that is?" Wolf questioned. "Cause it isn't a satellite. It's a ship. You just don't see its back yet." Slippy said from the ship. "We just got a clear picture of it. It looks like it can hold a lot of ships. You better get out of there." But, before the retreat could begin, fighters were already approaching. Author: RINGSHADOW Subject: IS-Calm down! Posted: JULY 07, 1998 07:44 "Seems to me every idea i think is good turns bad." Ringshadow fumed. "Fall back!" Shouted Fox. "Too late! We'll have to fight it out!" Said Wolf. "There's too many of them!" Shouted one of the human pilots, near panicking. "There always is!" Said Ringshadow. "Calm down! Don't talk like that! Just like the game, okay! Just like the game. Outnumbered, fine, in the game we almost always were. We can do this. Someone figure out how to beat that sattelite while we try to take care of the fighters." The human fighters calmed down a bit as they regrouped. "Staying clumped together isn't going to help us." Said Peppy. "Right. Split up, and take it to'em." Said Fox. Hearing the line from the game further calmed the pilots. The ability to lock on with bombs and lasers was discovered just in time. The leading fighters were scarred by high energy lasers, and hadn't dealt much damage themselves. But once the solution was found, the Star Fox team began fighting back visiously, evening the score quickly. Fox couldn't help but be proud of his trainees, though he couldn't out and say that in the middle of a battle. The human pilots, leaning on recent training and memories of strategy used in the game, were able to fight incredibly well, some better then others, but all well enough. "Okay, who's humming?" Said Falco. The humming stopped. "I recognise that. That's from Star Wars." Commented one of the human pilots. Falco looked out at the space battle, and the backdrop of stars. "Appropriate." He seemed a little amused. "Though I'm not sure what 'Star Wars' is." "We'll explain under less stressful circumstances." Said Catlina. "Watch it, Falco, you have a bogey on your tail!" "I'll get these. Someone get the ones behind me." Replied Falco, locking on to the cluster of fighters nearby him. "I could use some help here." A friend fighter charged him, passed over him by mere inches, and shot down the bogeys on his tail. "That scared the hell out of me. Who was that anyway?" Said Falco. Ace pulled up beside him, gave him a thumbs up, then reentered the fray. "They're running!" Said Wolf, watching the enemy fighters turn tail and head for the safety of their fleet. "Yeah." Said a new voice, rattley and deep. "But I'm not." The enemy boss flew forward, as the Star Fox team regrouped. FJMcCloud swallowed. Posted: JULY 07, 1998 21:34 Approaching were two robots. "They look like the robots we fought at Sector Y." Falco said. "Is there a third, Slippy?" Fox asked, remembering what happened at Sector Y. "Radar doesn't show anything. Do you want me to come out there and help you?" "Nah, Slip, none of us want to hear you." Falco said. "Very funny, Falco." Slippy fired back. "Enough already, let's concentrate on the battle. Break up and try to get the robots to follow one or two of you. Then everyone else just come in and destroy them." Fox said. They split. Approaching the purple robot, Peppy decided to be the bait. "I won't let it hit me. Just destroy it." Around the purple robot they went. Falco went to this one, along with others. They surrounded it, hitting it with all their might. "I'm hit. What's taking so long?" Peppy exclaimed. "We're working on it." Ringshadow replied. Finally, it was too much. The lasers had taken their toll on the armor. With two more shots from Falco, the robot halted, the pilot screamed in terror of death, and the robot exploded, pieces going everywhere. At the same time, Fox, Wolf, and the rest were on the gold robot. "Catlina, watch out! He almost got you." Wolf said to the volunteer bait. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Just get rid of the robot." "It seems as if he might be defeated." Falco said, as the rest of the group arrived to help. "Not for long!" Catlina said. Out of nowhere she had somersaulted, without anyone noticing. Not even the robot pilot noticed. With three quick laser shots the robot exploded in similar fashion to the other. "That was a close one." Falco said. "Are there others?" "No." Slippy said from the Great Fox. "Alright, then were coming back." Fox said, relieved to see that the newbies had met the first battle in flying colors. "Everyone did great." "The ship seems to be leaving." Slippy said from the ship. "Check the communication. Do we have a connection to Earth now?" KillerThunder asked, clearly anxious to find out. "Give me a minute or two to find out." Five minutes pasted as they approached the Great Fox. "Well, I told you to update me on the communication link." KillerThunder said as he walked in to the room Slippy was in. "It is, and we've established connection. I thought you might want to see it instead of hearing it though." Slippy responded. "Alright everyone, now we need to talk to the people. Were to first?" Author: THELUIGIFAN Subject: IS-Communication Posted: JULY 08, 1998 09:50 Fox opened up a radio channel to London. "Who is it?" The British radio announcer said. "I'm Fox McCloud, of the StarFox team-CLICK-" Fox turned, "They cut me off." The same happened whenever the team tried to get through. No one would listen. ---Meanwhile--- "Look, Mr. Andross," Jackie Domino began, "I dont understand while you had to go through this game of double deceit." Andross grinned wickedly. "There are two reasons." He said, "One: If we had allowed Star Fox to announce that they come in peace and that we want to take over the Earth, Earth would fight us. But since they believe that we come in peace, it will be easy to take them over. Just a missile in a few spots, and they will submit. Two: If Earth breaks out in civil war because of this, than they will weaken themselves, making it easier for me to take over." "I understand." Jackie said. ---Midnight--- On the Great Fox, The Luigi Fan couldn't sleep. He paced across the floor of his quarters. "Incredible," he muttered, "A few sentences from Andross and the world hates us." He popped open his PowerBook G3 laptop, and sat down on his bed. He opened Netscape and began a search. He typed in 'Andross.' The results came back to him quickly. He scrolled down until he found "Andross and Co bulletin board." He clicked on the link. The computer beeped and a message appeared. "Enter Password..." Luigi Fan read. He thought for a moment and entered, 'Pigma Dengar,' and 'mybeautifulreward.' The computer screen flashed, 'Authorization Complete' and let him in. The screen was a BBS from Andross himself. One posting caught Luigi Fan's eye. It was named, "Why." Luigi Fan opened it and found a detailed explanation for the trickery Andross had played. ---The Next Day--- The Luigi Fan walked up to Fox McCloud. "Look," He said, "I've got something to announce. I hacked into Andross' BBS and found some information." The Luigi Fan told Fox all that he had found, and ended with, "Also, you know the twelve Earth conspirators that the video showed were dead?" Fox shouted to everyone. As they went to their ships, a strange message came in. "H....E....L....P" It sounded like General Pepper. As our fighters approached the base with caution, we looked at it carefully. "4 ships, time for me to make a dent." Falco shouted over the telecom. "Shoot, he's right behind me" everyone shouted. As we fought off the ships the base opened up. "PULSE CANNONS." They fired and tore our shields apart. "AHHHHHHHH" Slippy's ship roared as it started to fly into the cliff. "NOOOOOOOO" Peppy's shiped got blown out of the sky, and Falco's ship got ripped apart be the ships. Only me and Fox were left, and with his ship crippled it didn't look good. Me an Foxes ships dove down and tried to diable the cannons without luck. We checked our scanners and saw twenty, no... thirty ships. On top of that Star Wolf blazed down and shot Fox out of the sky. "I wonder who's left." Wolf bellowed. I tried to run but the ships cut me off. "We must follow the master" "You idiot she's just manipuating you." As I looked, I saw one half with me and one half with Wolf. As all ships eventually got destroyed, I forgot what my mission was. Then suddenly I remembered. "Hey guys... Can you help me take out this base?" No response. "Guys, uh, guys." Several shots hit my ship. Kahla was in her cruiser. "I've dealt with those traitors and now I will kill you." I dove in and tried to shoot, but her armor was too strong. I tried to signal the Great Fox without luck. It had been destoyed too. finally I decided to run. As I ran I saw two ships beside me. "How's going tiger?" "KATT, BILL, I'm so glad your here." As we flew I saw that as we drew closer and closer I realized we were in the Lylat system. "General Pepper, are you there?" No response. I signaled Bill to ask what happened. "Well... Kahla's enemy fighter's swarmed our bases and began firing. General Pepper thought this was a routine thing to see if the shields are working. So he let it happen. By the time he realized it wasn't a game it was to late. All bases had been destoyed and they were closing fast on us." That puzzled me, Kahla wasn't even a general yet she could access attack ships. My ship rumbled a bit. I realized that Kahla's cruiser was right behind us and closing fast. We dove down and I swear, it was in the murky ocean of Aquas. "WHAT" I exclaimed. "It's all right sugar. This is our hidden refuge." "Bu... But Kahla." "She doesn't want to risk scratching her pretty ship." As I went into docking bay 1 a bunch of questions raced through my mind. Will Kahla find us? Will she destroy us? Will we be the victors? Only Time Will Tell By: Kalitana Their initial simulator training now complete, the humans' next task was to fly the real thing. F.J. McCloud donned his team flight uniform for the first time. The boots, which looked like they were made of a dull, uncomfortable material in the video games, were in fact made of an exotic shiny material no one on earth had ever seen before--much like a cross between leather and mylar. They were sturdy and yet more comfortable than any shoes on earth. The kerchief around the neck just looked cool! The flight jacket and gloves were what F.J. had wanted since the Star Fox competition in '93. Last came the piece de resistance: a helmet with built-in microphone and communications linkup. F.J. slid it on and let it automatically form-fit to his head as he remembered Thesilentassassin's story from long ago: "...they will all become part of the mighty Starfox team, regardless if your uniform does not say it, or if your ship does not have the official crest. You will all be Starfox members in your hearts." That was true, of course, but the uniform made it official now! In the mirror was the portrait of a Star Fox member and the feeling of honor was indescribable. F.J. left his quarters and headed for the docking bay where the rest of the team, dressed in similar uniforms, was assembling. The team's ships were mostly older-model Arwings, but Slippy had rigged them with many features that, with a little practice, might just make them as easy to fly as in the game. Starfoxandwolf, fittingly, had been assigned one of the older Wolfen ships once piloted by the Star Wolf team over Fortuna's polar base. Falco, Peppy, Slippy, and Wolf were eager to see the new recruits take their first real flight. Fox seemed excited, too, and smiled as he spoke. "You've made us all proud, team. We're going to have R.O.B. launch you one at a time for your first training exercises. The first thing to remember is not to be scared. We'll be out there with you and in constant contact. Next, watch out for your wingmen. There's plenty of space out there for you, so relax. You don't have to crowd together. Trust your instincts. Okay, everyone ready?" The unanimous answer kept the mood as bright as ever. One by one the cockpits closed and the space fighters launched from Great Fox. Each ship rumbled as its plasma engines and gravity induction coils accelerated it forward. Leaving Great Fox was like jumping into a pool for the first time--only space had no bottom. The feeling of freedom and power was fantastic! "All ships check in!!" Fox directed the team. The string of replies from everyone sounded like it could be straight from the games. Slowly the controls became comfortable. Loops, sharp turns, and careful barrel rolls came naturally. The Star Fox team made great teachers. Suddenly a communications channel opened on everyone's com. system and a video window of Fox appeared on the heads up display. "Team, it seems Andross has dispatched his first scout vessels to a few of your hometowns. Remember that he's looking for you, too. Your families might be in danger. We'll split up and take it to 'em. Thesilentassassin, your home has been targeted. Come with me. Care to join us Ringshadow, Starfoxalpha, Penguinio, and Catlina? Sovan Jedi, some ships have been spotted over your home. Follow Wolf and take F.J., Starfoxandwolf, KillerThunder, and Silverfox. The rest of you keep training and if R.O.B. finds any more scout ships Falco, Peppy, and Slippy can take more of you. Good luck, everyone!" Author: RINGSHADOW Subject: IS- Posted: JULY 13, 1998 11:05 "Boy, am i glad Fox is all right." Said FJ. Ringshadow muttered something to the effect of 'my fault.' "No, it wasn't." "Yes it was. My suggestion, my fault. 'Sides, i critized Fox for staying behind. Not exactly the perfect profile for a pilot." She sat back, in thought. "Hmmm. You'd figure I'd learn my lesson, because everything i come up with turns bad. Then again, this can't be really bad if it turns sour." "What?" She thought some more. "I just thought of something that might turn some human heads in our favor." "How are you going to manage that?" Said Wolf. "All the radio channels cut us off." "True. It's been established that your brother Coyote is the leak in the department, right? He's the one doing the smooth talking for Andross?" Wolf nodded. "Right. He tried to get on the team a while back, but we got info that he was a spy..." "Uh-huh. Listen, I'll need your guys' help to pull this off, all right? I also need ROB's help." "What do you need me to do?" Said ROB. "Okay, here's what we do..." Later... "That seems pretty simple." Said FJ. "It's a fairly popular radio station." Ringshadow shrugged. "If we can get some air time on it's talk show and explain, it might help us out." "And if they cut us off?" "Well, we're no worse off, right?" "I've got the channel." Said ROB. "Here we go. Wolf, your brother did the talking earlier. Now you do the talking." Wolf nodded, picking up the radio. "New caller. This is Elvis Durran, you're on the air, what do you want to talk about?" Said the DJ. "I'd like to tell one of life's little stories. It's about trust." "If it isn't too long." Said Elvis. "It isn't. It starts shortly after Andross was first beat in the Lylat System. Andross, hungry for revenge, set his sights on Planet Earth. It seemed an easy target. With the supplies and slaves from Earth, he could take over Lylat without much opposition. The Star Fox team noticed that Andross' ships were heading for Earth. They liked Earth, enough so that they set out to stop Andross. They were able to slow Andross down and arrived in orbit around Earth. They needed more fighters, turned to the Internet, and ran across a small group of humans who enjoy the game, which was originally meant as a training program. It didn't take much convincing before these human pilots had joined Star Fox. Andross, meanwhile, had studied how Earth works. It wasn't long before Earth looked to him as the good guy, and snubbed Star Fox, thinking that they were the bad guys. This one, small misconception cost both Earth and the Lylat system everything. The Star Fox team, with no support from Earth, failed. Andross swept Earth, which all too late realized it's mistake. The Lylat system, without the help of the Star Fox team, fell at the mercy of Andross' army." A long pause, during which Elvis sputtered a little. "The moral to this is simple: Earth better take a good long look at who they're trusting, because it could be thier undoing." "But that hasn't happened yet!" Stammered Elvis. "No, but it will, unless Earth changes it's mind, for good." "Are you saying Andross is lying?" Said another caller. "Actually, yes. I am. I should know, i used to work for him. I realized my mistake, and now fight against him." "Who might you be?" "Wolf, a Star Fox pilot, and a good guy. Think about it Earth. Spread the word. It's your choice." Wolf hung up. Over the next several days, the polls changed a little. It was a start, though not much of one. In favor of Andross: 56 In favor of Star Fox: 34 Not sure: 10 But it was a start. Author: LUCKYYOSHI Subject: IS - Tranquilitatis Posted: JULY 13, 1998 13:51 My first chapter to this IS is long gone, and I've finally gotten around to continuing the sub-plot I've thought up. So, this takes place a little while after "Mysterious Allies." Don't worry, nothing in it will mess up what's going on at Earth. Andross sat in his chair and contemplated what he had just been told. Apparently, Commander Leer had failed in his mission, as his team was no where to be found. He turned to the hyena who had given him the news. "Send out a squadron of fighters and a light starcraft. I want to know what happened to Leer's team, and I want whatever took them out to be obliterated." He ordered. The hyena scurried out to do his bidding. Andross settled more comfortably into his chair, certain that good news was soon forthcoming. Bree was down in the outpost's hangar bay, scrutinizing the craft there. She had just gotten through a communication with Captain LuckyYoshi. Apparently, her ship, the Procellarum, was still under repairs after an accidental encounter with the Bolse satellite. The Imbrium's crew was on shore leave at the Neptune Orbital Station, and could not be expected to help either. The final starship in their tiny fleet, the Nectaris, was off on a scientific mission, and it's return time was unknown. It was up to her, being in command of the outpost, called Tranquilitatis, to prevent Andross' forces from succeeding. "We, the captains have full and complete confidence in your abilities." LuckyYoshi had said. "Do whatever you deem necessary. We support you in your decisions. The Nectaris will aid you as soon as she returns." To Bree, the promise of aid was quite empty. She knew how unreliable space could be, especially with Andross around. The Nectaris could arrive in a day, or a month, or even later. Bree would have to defend Tranquilitatis alone. She smiled at the irony. In the human language of Latin, tranquilitatis meant "tranquility." Once Andross' forces arrived, the place would be anything but tranquil. LuckyYoshi had chosen the name because of the peaceful and somewhat lonely nature of it's location. LuckyYoshi had also been the one to rescue Bree and hide her from the U.S. government. Along with her friends, the captains and the station commander, they had built their tiny fleet, Interstar, into what it was. "All of the ships are in pristine order I assure you." Gax spoke up. Bree turned sharply. "Oh I'm sure they're in top condition, I'm just counting them. She replied. The endodroid moved from where he had been working on another ship. "I certainly outdid myself with these Bladewings. Like an Arwing, but with better artillery and shielding." Bree just nodded, and then walked to her own personal Bladewing, the Velore. She was about to rub her paw over its exterior, but then remembered its special plating. It looked as smooth as silk, but cut like the sharpest knife. Bladewings could fly through the Venusian atmosphere as if it was Corneria's sky. They were certainly special craft, and also very limited in number. "A dozen ships to defend an outpost, what was I thinking?" She lamented out loud. If even one of those ships was destroyed by Andross' forces, it was a heavy loss indeed. "At least we have the satellites." Bree's comm chirped to life. "Commander, Terec here. Long distance scanners have shown that Andross' force is nearing Jupiter." "How many craft?" "A squadron of Wolfen 3's and a light star craft. Their weapons are armed. Should I cloak the outpost?" Bree decided it was better to be smart than dead. "Yes, cloak immediately. Send out an order to prepare the fighters. If it looks like the satellites aren't doing the job . . ." "I'll get on it immediately. With that, Terec signed off. Turning to Gax, Bree said: "Looks like it's time to see how these birds can handle a battle." He just nodded slowly. "I'll observe the satellites in case a manual override is necessary." Then he too left. Bree knew there was nothing she could do here as of yet, so she also left, just as the first fighters were filing in to prepare their Bladewings for battle. Standing in Ops, she watched closely as the Wolfens closed in. She smiled a little when she saw their confused actions when they found nothing to be seen. The fighters had been expecting something, anything, and discovering absolutely nothing was baffling. She figured she'd wait a little before firing the first shot. After all, timing was everything in a fight. Ffarrey Pyxis, captain of the Vendetta, stood on the bridge as he watched the viewscreen. His underlings were trying to get some kind of analysis on what could've happened to Leer's team. Before him were the soft gray contures of Ganeymede, the largest moon in Jupiter's orbit. One of the snatches of a transmission that had reached Andross said that there was something on the moon - the something that had destroyed them. However, none of the scans had come up positive for even a crashed Earth satellite that could've spiked a radar. He wondered if it could be cloaked, and then dismissed the idea. The humans weren't supposed to have that kind of technology, and no one from Lylat could possibly be here. Then again, what else could explain what was going on? The massive vulture was about to order his men to turn and leave, when a bright light flashed across the screen. "What was that?!" He demanded. "One of the Wolfen 3's just exploded sir." The nervous tactical officer replied. "How could it just explode?! Find out what happened!" The officer was about to respond when two more craft blew up. Looking at the screen with wide eyes, he responded. "I'll get right on it sir!" "Nice shot." Bree told Gax over the comm as she stood in Ops. "I try," he smoothly answered. "I just love the ability to fire a shot and re-cloak before anyone can even guess what happened. I really -" "-Outdid yourself." Bree finished. "We've heard you say that a thousand times, maybe your auditory circuits need to be checked." "I'm in pristine condition, of that you can be sure. I just take pride in my work." Gax defended. "Hmm, a little too much pride. In any case, prepare to fire another salvo next time a group comes in range." "Whenever you say the word." Bree watched the screen as a group of five neared what was rest of the wreckage of the three craft. She waited until they strayed a bit nearer to the cloaked satellite. Then she noticed that the starship was moving in as well. Uh oh, the big guns were coming in. A plan formed in her mind. "Gax, fire at that group near the satellite, and then move it a few feet." She watched as the five craft became enveloped in a bright light. The craft moved closer, and fired in the direction the shots had come from. However, Gax had already moved the satellite, so the ship hit nothing. Pyxis couldn't believe his eyes. What he'd just seen was a large defense satellite //although nowhere near as large as Bolse// that had de-cloaked and re-cloaked in no time flat after firing two powerful shots. The Vendetta had fired where the satellite had been seen, but had failed to hit anything. Turning to his communications officer, he decided it was time to tell Andross. "Contact Emperor Andross." He ordered. "I can't, all signals are being jammed sir." "What?! How can that be?" "I don't know sir, but I'll find out." "Wait, that won't be necessary." Pyxis countered. "It looks like our enemy is showing its treacherous face." He watched as six craft appeared from nowhere on the moon's surface, and were rapidly approaching. "So the base is cloaked after all." He mused. Bree watched the scene unfold from her seat. The first six Bladewings had been sent out, and in seconds the two satellites would de-cloak for the battle. When the first satellite appeared, the light starship moved to fire, while the squadron, now short eight Wolfen 3's, consentrated on the newcomers. The whole scene changed when the second satellite decloaked, and the Wolfens discovered how powerful the Bladewings were. 'This battle is going to be interesting.' Bree thought wryly. 'Two satellites and twelve Bladewings against a squadron and a light starship. Let's see who's more powerful.' I fully plan on continuing this, and not with such big gaps between chapters. I'm working towards a point where the Star Fox team can ally with Interstar to fight Andross. How exactly this will take place is up in the air as of yet. Any ideas? LuckyYoshi Author: KILLERTHUNDER Subject: IS--Down to Earth Posted: JULY 13, 1998 21:40 This occurs from where F.J. had left off. "The Truth is Out There." It's probably the most well known phrase to anyone who has even see one second of The X-Files. For some reason, it was stuck on KillerThunder's mind. He was trying ideas in his head, figuring out plans. He was trying to figure out a way to sway the world to support Star Fox, as if Andross wasn't accomplishing that himself. All throught the flight he was engaged in, he thought up countless scenarios, never coming up with one that was full proof. Many had major flaws. One was dependant on the fact that the enemy would make a costly error that was very unlikely. Another on the fact that luck may be present. But none could provide a solution that was perfect. Until an idea sprung in his mind. "We need to get to Earth quick." He said to everyone over the intercom in the helmets. "Well, we'll be landing soon enough." Wolf said. "England isn't that far, and we must protect SovanJedi's area." "No, I mean we need to be on the ground and communicating. Up hear we do nothing." "Well, for now we can't do anything. And once we defeat the enemy here, we must go back to the Great Fox. After that, however, we can do something." "Well..." KillerThunder said, trailing off. "Well, what?" Wolf responded. "My idea needs me down on the ground immediately." "Why's that?" "Cause I want to do it before the Earth is destroyed, that's why." "What is it you want to do?" "Well, first we need to get a friendlier connection than the few people we have on our side. Then, we need to uncover the place Andross has his troops. He doesn't have them all in space, I can guarantee." "How will we find that? I doubt most people know." Wolf said. "We'll have to find someone who knows and make them tell us." "How will we find this person, and how will we convince him or her to talk?" "Let's find them before we get into that." KillerThunder responded, nervous because he wasn't sure of how to do that. "Were will this person be?" "Well, either near Andross, so as to be in close conference with him, or they will already be with him, thus ruining the idea." "So, this is really just a hope that we can find Andross' hideout by any means possible." "Well, to me," KillerThunder responded, "this is really a hope that we can actually figure something out that will help us, even if his base is never discovered." --------------------------------------------- Well, I don't know if this will help anything in any way, but Smuggler wanted wilderness, so maybe we can get to it with this. Author: SMUGGLER700 Subject: IS-Crash Landing Posted: JULY 16, 1998 21:14 As I said, I will now begin my wilderness idea. This story takes place right after F.J.'s and Killer Thunder's. ///In the Arwings/// "The group has spit up." Smuggler noted. "I wonder where they're going?" Fox radioed the group. "Slippy, Peppy, Wolf, and I will follow the main group. Humans, follow the other three." "Roger that." LuigiFan said. Smuggler tuned his communicator to a frequency that Slippy had told him about during training. It was the common Andross link. Sure enough, he could hear the Venomian voices. "Are we to head back to base?" "Of course, right after we follow the plan." 'What plan...' Smuggler wondered. Below them, lasers shot upwards from the floor of the Irish forest. Smuggler forced his Arwing into a barrel roll, but it was not in time. "I've lost all weapons control!" He radioed frantically. "Stay behind us." F.J. advised him. "Got that." Smuggler dropped his speed and fell in behind the other fighters. The group dropped closer to the trees, using power lasers to lock onto the gun turrets. "I'm picking up a particle disturbance in front. There seems to be a strange ion reading." LuigiFan said. "Where'd the other ships go?" F.J. wondered. The Venomian ships were gone. "I've got a bad feeling about this." LuigiFan muttered. "Join the club." Smuggler said. "Uh...Oh." F.J. said, "My computer has figured out what that ion field will do. The odds of making it through without the entire ship being disabled is 21:356514." "Never quote me the odds." Smuggler said, "Besides, it's too late!" He yelled. The Arwings crashed through the field. All the ships shut down and plummeted towards the forest below. ///To Be Continued/// Well, that's the start of my wilderness Author: KILLERTHUNDER Subject: IS-Gravity Kills Posted: JULY 17, 1998 06:33 Furthur down they all went, the ground becoming larger in their faces. The ships were failing. "What now?" Smuggler thought. "How do we get out of this situation?" Wolf asked. Closer and closer they were coming to death, the ground appearing as their death bed. "Screw odds, its time for luck." Wolf said. "Everyone turn your ships to face so you'll hit the ground flat." "But we've lost control of the--" KillerThunder said, cut off. "Forget that, just try and see if the ships will respond." Wolf replied quickly. One by one, as if by magic, the ships started to recover. "But how?" "Don't ask, just fly." Slippy said. Many had forgot they were still falling. They recovered quickly, just missing the ground. "Watch out for the stone walls. There's many here." KillerThunder warned. "There's one now. Try to pull up." F.J. said. They tried, but it seemed as if the ships were dying on them. "We can't stop in time, so pull up or forget about surviving." They all pulled up, and missed the wall. What happened next shocked them. BAM! "They were still following us?" Luigifan commented. The ships that attacked them had smacked into the wall. All except one were destroyed. The remaining one was retreating. "Go, now. Don't let it get away." Smuggler yelled. Off into the forest it flew at quick speed. "We can't go in there. Our ships are damaged and our control might go out at any second." Slippy said. "We'll take the chance, and don't spit out the odds." Smuggler replied. Into the forest they went. Weaving in and out, dodging the numerous trees, trying to keep sight on the enemy. "How does he do that? He seems to know the way perfectly." KillerThunder said in amazement. "Maybe he's been through here before." F.J. suggested. "Maybe he's been through here a lot." Smuggler said. "Maybe were stationed here." "If so, let's find it." Luigifan stated. "Look out!" Slippy yelled. KillerThunder quickly went left. He was unable to avoid the tree properly, though. He smacked his wing against it, dragging it along. "Dragging it along?" KillerThunder thought. "Hey, where did that ship go? We must of lost it when we were talking." "Maybe it went in there." KillerThunder said, remarking on the building he had just dragged along side of. "It's camoflaged. And low. The ship must of ducked down and flown in before we noticed." Smuggler said. "Well, let's do the same." Author: THELUIGIFAN Subject: IS-The Chase is On. "That place has more 90 degree turns than these ships can handle without perfect manueverabilty. " KillerThunder turned his ship to the ground. "With such fried equipment, we'd never make it." He said. The Arwings landed and the pilots got out. "Slippy," said Wolf, "Do we have an open comlink to the Great Fox." "No." The frog replied. "This equipment is so messed up that our range is gone. No way we can reach the Great Fox." "Darn." Wolf said. "Fox, Peppy and Falco are still chasing the other scout ships." Smuggler pulled out his K-64 laser gun. He fired a test shot. "Gun still works." He said. "Why don't we just walk into that enemy base?" "Good question." LuigiFan said. "I say we should." Slippy groaned. "In... the base." He said frightfully. "Don't worry, froggy," LuigiFan laughed. "You stay here and repair the ships." "Good." Slippy said. ///Inside the Base/// The group had reached a fork in the path. "Wait." Wolf whispered "I'll scout out the right tunnel." Wolf crept into the tunnel, gun held ready. Suddenly he ran back into the main tunnel. "Run!" He said urgently. "Of course, sir." LuigiFan managed to get out before fleeing down the left tunnel. Wolf lifted a grate off the ventilation system. "In here!" He said. The group poured into the shaft and Wolf shut the gate just in time. A cold blast of air hit the group. KillerThunder, in the lead, began walking down the air shaft. F.J.'s eyes widened. "Stop." He whispered. He lowered his ear onto the cold metal grate below them. Voices came from the room below: "So are the nukes in place?" "Yes. Andross is now ready to take over the world. If they don't submit, he bombs them." LuigiFan leaned closer, squinting through the grate. In the chamber he could see several men and a few monkeys, obviously relatives of Andross. --- This is when we discover the Earth conspiracy. -The Luigi Fan Author: LUCKYYOSHI Subject: IS - Takin' it to 'em Posted: JULY 17, 1998 16:35 "Quick! Concentrate your fire on the first satellite!" Pyxis ordered his tactical officer. "But sir, that leaves our flank open for the other satellite to-" The muscular vulture glared at his impertinent crocodile officer. "Lieutenant, I gave you an order, so do it! If we can damage that other satellite enough, we won't have to deal with it any more." "Yes sir." Pyxis looked up at the viewscreen. Those smaller ships were a lot more powerful than the Arwings they resembled. He frowned slightly when he realized that for every shot that actually damaged one of the craft, three of his own were destroyed. This battle was certainly more than he had anticipated. He wasn't cocky like most of Andross' officers. He knew that this fight could very well end badly for him. Bree's jaw locked when she saw another Bladewing take another costly hit. The regenerating shields weren't moving fast enough. One of them was almost a goner, and the Wolfens firing on it knew that too. She slapped the comm to the pilots. "Sevek, get your jet out of the fight and into the hangar now! You can grab one of the extras and head out again. We can't risk losing one of those ships!" She ordered. "Yes, Commander." With that, Lt.Sevek pulled out of the fight, but two Wolfens refused to make it easy. Bree noticed this. "Guys, get the two jets on Sevek's tail. If any of you are seeing your ship get too damaged, take it in and replace it. You can each change vehicles once, but only once. Then we're through. Do your best!" Soon, Sevek had landed his injured ship and flown out in a new one. Another ship that had taken heavy damage then turned in and the pilot brought out a new one. The satellite that the Vendetta was firing on was taking damage too, and the other satellite couldn't seem to stop the craft. Bree shook her head, the tides were turning against her. Pyxis had seen the ships go in and them come out like new. He knew what to do about that problem. "Send out a dozen ships to attack that outpost hangar. I don't want any more coming out to help." The ships broke off from the dogfighting and headed for the base. Bree smiled when she saw the captain's folly. Tranquilitatis was prepared for just such an assault. The shielding was sectioned, so that while the shield over the hangar might be down, the rest of the base was still protected. The shield around the bay was designed to turn off automatically as soon as it sensed friendly craft within a certain range, and would reinstate as soon as they left. Gun emplacements guarded every shield generator, and two stood outside of the hangar bay. Those ships would not get far at all. Sure enough, the first of the twelve to come within range were demolished by the rocket propelled grenades fired by the guns. Two others crashed into the shield, and were also vaporized. The last four began to cut and run, but the farther reaching electro-magnetic pulse //EMP// weapon on the left side of the bay took them down with a single shot. Sensing that there were no more invading jets in the viscinity, the emplacements shut down until next time. Pyxis angrily paced the bridge of the Vendetta. The defenses that this outpost had were amazing. If he could capture one of those ships, and bring some of the other technology this place had back, maybe Andross would not be so angry with him for failing to obliterate them. He was seriously considering leaving and coming back with more backup, especially since he couldn't call for any out here. Still, he waited on that decision. Time would tell if it were necessary. Bree gave up watching the fight and decided to enter the fray herself. She hopped into the Velore and took off. She covered the sixes of some of the other fighters while taking care of the Wolfens. Several times she was targeted by the enemy craft, but she managed to avoid them. She happened to be an excellant pilot. It was sheer chance that she'd crashed before. Pyxis noticed something about the latest craft to enter the fray. Most of the other ships hovered around it in a more or less protective cluster. Then it hit him. "Quick, tell the fighters to concentrate on the newest ship. That's their leader!" Bree soon found herself heavily accosted. Any ship she didn't dispatch returned to cause more trouble. She was almost afraid - almost. She knew that if she went down, it wasn't going to be because of them. This resolve was soon justified when a welcome sight approached. It was the Nectaris, back from its mission! The large vessel immediately went after the Vendetta. The two began to duke it out in a dangerous game of dueling. It was obvious that the unscarred Nectaris was winning the fight. Pyxis' craft just couldn't handle two satellites and a ship. At one point, a desperate voice came over the comm. "Who ARE you guys?!" It was Pyxis. Bree confidently answered. "Honey, you won't be alive long enough to care." She then turned and headed for the hangar after scrapping the last Wolfen. The other Bladewings followed her lead. The Nectaris and the two satellites suddenly captured the Vendetta in their lethal Particle Destabilizer beams. With all three of them concetrating on the ship, it was soon in shards, and then dust, and then nothing. Andross had lost this second match against Interstar, and would soon lose many more. Well, I got that chapter out pretty fast. In any case, the next chapter I add will include Ringshadow's suggestion for forming an alliance between Interstar and Starfox. ~LuckyYoshi~ Author: LUCKYYOSHI Subject: IS - Interim Posted: JULY 19, 1998 21:03 OOC- This is only a small story to make up for the fact that my next chapter //the one where an alliance between Interstar and Starfox is made official// might not come for a while. LuckyYoshi quietly sipped her hot chocolate while she stared out the viewport at the lovely blue gem that was Neptune. For several months she had been trapped at the Neptune Orbital Station //NOS// while her starship, the Procellarum, underwent repairs. Blast that infernal Bolse satellite! If only she had known it was there, she wouldn't have risked taking the short route home. Now that shortcut had left her stranded, and her ship had barely managed to limp back to even this distant outpost. Now, better armoring and weapons technology had been developed, so that nothing like that would happen again. The Starfox team had taken Bolse down which further aided the fact. 'Ah yes,' LuckyYoshi thought, 'The Starfox team. Now how is Interstar going to be made known without tons of suspicion?' She set down her mug in distaste, it was empty anyway. That thought had plagued her since Bree had first told her Andross had come to this system. The whole point of keeping the fleet a secret was so that no tyranical government could gain the technology, as well as the fact that she and all of the crews would be replaced by adults. THAT thought really irked her. After all, she and the others knew these ships as well as the station, and the technology within in them better than any newbie adult could. Besides, the ignorance the adults would bring could not be risked when Andross was involved. DaisyYoshi, captain of the Nectaris, smiled as the ship settled into orbit around Ganeymede. Now that the procedure was taken care of, she could go to the transport taking her to Tranquilitatis. It had been awhile since she had last spoken face to face to Bree, and she was eager to learn the situation with Andross. A lot had been learned on her excursion outside of the system, but nothing could discourage her fighting spirit when a battle was at hand - and this was certainly going to be a battle. She nimbly stepped into the craft waiting for her, the Humorum, settled into the pilot's chair, and signaled that she was ready to leave. Within a few minutes, she was gliding toward the mostly underground outpost sitting on Jupiter's moon, far from the true fight on Earth, but ready to enter the fray. LuckyYoshi had finally come to a conclusion. Whether or not she could successfully convince her fellow humans, as well as the Lylatians who were now present that she was an ally, she had to join the fight. Earth simply did not have enough technology, and the Starfox team could only do so much. They would need as many starships as possible, and the Nectaris and the Imbrium could very well be the only ones they would get. Since the Imbrium's crew was on shore leave, she would captain and the ship under her own crew to Tranquilitatis. Once there, she could come up with a plan with Bree, and DaisyYoshi too, if she was there. No matter what, LuckyYoshi was NOT going to sit idly by any longer while Andross threatened her homeworld. She spoke to both the station commander and Imbrium's captain and received the permission necessary. Soon, she was rousing her restless crew and prepping the ship for take-off. After she sent a transmission to Tranquilitatis, she turned to watch the trip with a new sparkle in her eyes. Finally, she was getting off of that floating chunk of metal and into some action! ~LuckyYoshi~ Author: SGTWOLF Subject: IS- JD's Destiny 1/many -R Posted: JULY 20, 1998 00:26 "We're coming in behind you JD. There's an urgent situation. The base has been destroyed. I'm going to give your computer coordinates to the new rendezvous." JD disengaged the security protocol on his arwings navigation computer, "So what exactly happened?" Asked JD, only to get a eerie responce, "Enemy forces are monitoring for us, You'll be debriefed at the rendezvous point, radio silence until then." JD began worrying but it was too late, his navcomputer had already plotted a course, and He couldn't risk giving the three of them away by breaking silence, if war had started, a higher ranking officer could kill him for disobeying orders. After an hour they arrived at a small asteroid field, it was surrounded by a green haze. After entering the haze all the cockpit lights went out, none of his instruments were responding, and then he saw the frigate, it looked like a ghost ship, there were black craters along its side, evidence of heavy combat and perhaps a lost battle. "PARADIGM" was written on the side, a tractor beam locked on to JD's arwing and pulled the craft through one of the breeches, his ship was led into an airtight compartment, his cockpit suddenly opened, JD rose and reached for his sidearm but was stopped by two soldiers they promptly cuffed him and led him out through a door. "What's going on here!? Whats happened to the Lylat system?" he shouted, "Nothing yet" came a cold voice, it was the same one he heard earlier, the voice from the other arwing, "I promised you a debriefing and I never break a promise, you just wandered a bit too far away from base and we sent a couple dummy ships after, and you were kind enough to give us access to your navcom Sucker! Let me introduce myself, I'm Sgt. Wolf, former leader of the 3rd Wing, unfourtunately we were wiped out while holding the lines at Venom so now we've become mercenaries. Now, JD, it's time for you to learn the true meaning of pain... Author: QBRANCH1 Subject: IS-JD's Destiny 2/many Posted: JULY 20, 1998 17:47 ..."Wait!!!" screamed JD. " Maybe I could be of some use to you", he said. " Andross wouldn't be too happy if you just wasted away a terrific fighter and came out with nothing but 3 stolen arwings." "True, but how would I know you would turn against the Lylat army?" Said Sgt. Wolf. "You destroyed my base, there's nothing for me" Replied JD. "Hmmm...I'll have my best man challenge you, then we'll see if you're worthy enough, or else you'll be killed." The guards took JD to a cell and through him in. The next day, The gaurds pulled JD while he was still half asleep to one of the Arwings. The Arwing automatically roared to life and JD was told to get in, NOW!! Out in space a venomian unit saw the arwing pull out from the dock, and start flying towards him. The unit started to shoot the arwing, he was practically letting him!!. "What is going on, why is he not returning fire?" Cried Sgt. Wolf, even though no-one was around. "because I'm on auto-pilot, sucker!" Sgt. Wolf spun around and saw a fist fly at his face. JD ran for his own arwing and hopped in, he wasted the unit easily and took off. The frigate opened fire and Units flooded out of it. Jd started flying for Corneria, he was so close...... Author: SGTWOLF Subject: IS-JD's Destiny 2/many -Reply Posted: JULY 21, 1998 02:40 Sgt. Wolf's body sprang into motion as Private Rusty Wombat revived the Seargeant with smelling salts, as Sgt. Wolf came to, he realized that JD had escaped with an arwing and was on his way to corneria with the intentions of alerting his base of the Sgt's location. "Private, use the tractor beams and get a lock on him!" Shouted the Sgt. "He's to far to get a lock on." Replied the Private. "Then use the beams to catapult some asteroids in his way, we need to delay him for a few seconds and get back on top of him, he's not going to get away from me!" As JD's arwing seemed to be clearing the Green haze of the asteroid field, his ship was almost crushed by a salvo of Asteroids, his instruments still weren't fully fuctional, but his computers Virus Defence Systems were taking control. JD didn't need any instruments to see that the frigate "Paradigm" was closing on him. Sgt. Wolf watched as the Arwing tried scurrying away. "Send in the twins..." Misty and Rufus Retriever had grown up in the 3rd wing under the Sgt's command. They were both skilled warriors; when they fought together they were unbeatable. Misty was the smart one, she always decided on the tactics, Rufus was a bit slower but he had a Battle Rage that was unmatched. Misty was already on JD's trail; her vessel was the "Red Leash" a small but fast vessel with a powerful Laser system. She maneuvered her craft around the incoming asteroids with the grace of a ballet dancer. Rufus followed in the "Blue Collar" it was an oversized craft which relied on the 150 missles contained in the hull, his ship barreled through the asteroids with no trouble. Misty called to JD "You are now being hunted by Misty and Rufus Retriever, this is your last chance to surrender." JD replied "I won't let Sgt. Wolf get his paws on me again!" Rufus added to the conversation "GRRRRRR" JD noticed that Misty hadn't wasted any of her time, she was already on his tail, "Rufus, follow Tactical plan "G~" Rufus fired 5 cluster bombs ahead of JD, he was forced to bank upwards, unfortunately Mistys ship could outbank his, and she let loose with 15 blasts from her lazer, JD's arwing twisted as it was hit 3 times by mistys lazer, his computer had shut down, everything would have to be done manually now, but that was the least of his worrys, now that he had straigtened out Misty was still on his tail, and JD was heading straight into Rufus. Misty let loose another barage of lazer blasts, anything that missed JD and hit Rufus would only cause slight damage considering the amount of armour Rufus's Craft had in the front, Rufus let loose a barage of 5 net missles, once fired they would expand into a giant net and capture the ship... JD had to get out of the way fast, he was about to bank left when he remembered one of his training exercises, he was being set up to bank in any direction so they could catch him in a cross-fire, the only thing keeping Rufus from firing High-explosives was the fact that misty was behind him. The only thing he could do now was something they'd never expect, JD aimed his nose straight at Rufus and then he hit his brakes, Misty screamed as her ship collided into the arwing, the thin nose of the "Red Leash" had impaled the arwing. A few inches any other way and JD would have bought the farm, Misty was nearly unconcious from the impact, but she realized that if she fired her lazer it would be the end for them both. JD saw Rufus's Net closing in on him, JD fired his booster, and as his ship went straight into the net, it kept going. JD started transmiting on an open frequency, "C'mon Rufus, is that all you've got?" Rufus boosted straight towards JD, but right before they were about to collide JD did a summersault, now all 3 ships had become entangled in the net... JD looked into Rufus's eyes, their cockpits were right on top of each other, he could see Rufus foaming at the mouth. JD realized that the ships were too close together to aim the weapons at each other, and unfortunately the nova bombs had been confiscated by the Sgt's mercs. JD glanced back at Rufus and noticed that he had put on his pressurized suit, and taking out a Lazer-Rifle. Rufus was going to shoot straight through the cockpits! JD panicked and realized there was nothing he could do when the tangled net of ships was struck by and asteroid, Rufus's ship took the brunt of the blow and the ships were sent spiraling away from the asteroid field, and into the gravity of a small planet, and then JD blacked out. When JD awoke he was very cold, and for a good reason, he was in a parachute heading down to the ground twenty thousand feet below him. His arwing had detected that it was out of control, and that it was loosing altitude, so it automatically ejected the pilot. He searched the horizon for the ships and saw the net had come loose and the 3 ships were falling separately, he wondered if Misty and Rufus would make it, and then he wondered if he would make it himself... Author: THELUIGIFAN Subject: IS-The Escape Posted: JULY 21, 1998 11:37 This chapter picks the story up after we first hear about the conspiracy. "A conspiracy!" LuigiFan gasped in amazement. "Looks like it." Killer Thunder said, keeping his voice quiet. "Forward!" F.J. said. The group proceeded forward through the air vent until Wolf stopped. "Look down there!" He said, guesturing to the vent. Smuggler looked down. "Computers. And a heck of a lot of them." He said. Wolf carefully lifted up the grate. He sat it to the side and jumped to the room below. The humans followed suit. LuigiFan looked around in amazement. The room contained computers of all kinds: SGI's, Sun Solaris, Power Macintosh, Pentium II, even a Cray of some sort. 'Whoever arranged all this stuff sure is rich.' He thought. Wolf said, "If we can't contact the Great Fox with this stuff then I'll be surprised." F.J. sat down at the Unix machines and began to work. LuigiFan activated a MacOS system and began to work. He remembered before the war, when he had lived at peace. Working on his Macintosh and designing websites. Then Andross had come- He shook the thoughts from his head. He must concentrate! He opened the Network folder. Inside he saw a huge directory of files. One named "Sattelite Communications" caught his eye. He opened it, and a dialog box appeared: "Please enter destination." "Wolf!" He called, "What's the Sattelite Code for the Great Fox?" Without thinking, Wolf rattled off a string of numbers. LuigiFan entered them in, and progress notifications appeared. An alert popped up. "To open this communication we must use resources of all systems. Should I activate the Cray?" He clicked yes. A soft hum filled the room, followed by a short crackling. ROB64's image appeared on the main screen. "How may I help you." The robot asked. "Just get us out of here." Wolf said. "I understand." ROB said. A few minutes later a loud crash filled the room. The Great Fox had landed on top of the underground building. A landing ramp extended into the room. The group boarded the flagship and set off into orbit. Author: FJMCCLOUD Their first adventures now over, the Star Fox team relaxed aboard Great Fox. No one had been seriously damaged in action and the Lylatians seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Most of the humans were excited. Others were just thrilled to be alive. F.J. spotted Fox in a hallway near the crew's quarters. "Yo, Fox!" F.J. ran over to meet him. "We DID it! We really won our first battle!" "Yes, we did, F.J., but the war's just starting. I only wish we could've avoided interfering with your world and your lives." "What are you saying?!" Sovan Jedi joined the two of them. "It's Andross' war. If it weren't for you and your friends we wouldn't stand a chance against him." "Right!" F.J. said. "Besides, who says you're 'interfering' with our lives? You're our heroes! We finally got to meet you for real and help out. It's an honor and the least we could do for you." "You're good...but I'm BETTER!!" Wolf O'Donnel's voice sounded exactly like in the game! Fox opened the recreation room's door and found Wolf and Starfoxandwolf together in versus mode on SF64. Evidently Starfoxandwolf had brought back his TV and system. Slippy must've rigged up a power supply to match the various standards of earth. "Ha, ha! I see our 'wolves' are having fun!" Fox said. "I can't believe they could reduce our war down to a couple of games." "Not just any games, Fox," Sovan Jedi replied. "They're pretty special to us." "Sovan Jedi's right," F.J. continued. "They always did feel almost real to me. Inspirational, too. I feel like I owe you a lot, Fox." "I admit that I wasn't sure what to expect when we came here. I knew we'd meet 'aliens' but I wasn't expecting to meet friends. We make a great team--all of us," Fox replied. "Hey, everyone!" ThePeanutGuy joined the group along with Silverfox, Catlina, and Ringshadow. "We were thinking we should celebrate our first victories. Since it's dinner time for...well, for some of us!" ThePeanutGuy remembered that the time zone differences were affecting everyone, especially Sovan Jedi. "Let's get some food!" That night was a feast for everyone. The lylats got to sample a wide variety of earth foods and the humans tried cornerian rations for the first time. Everyone had a great time, but inside they also knew Fox was right. The war was just beginning. "I can't believe anyone from earth would conspire with Andross," Starfoxalpha addressed the team. "When I was on the SGI/Cray machines I called up a list of jobs they were running," F.J. added. "I cant' be sure, but they looked like physics and logistics programs. It looks like the conspirators aren't just allying themselves with Andross but actually giving him crucial data from our militaries. They're selling us out completely." "And it'll backfire on them," Wolf O'Donnel replied. "Andross doesn't want to make a deal with anyone on your world. He wants to enslave it. ALL of it." "How much time do we have until a full-scale invasion?" Starfoxandwolf asked. "We're not sure," Peppy answered. "However, it's safe to assume he won't start until his forces have been completely rebuilt. Right now he's probably more interested in conquering the rest of your solar system. We know he's operating from several places already." "We've picked up unusual readings from mars, your asteroid belt, jupiter, and the rings of saturn already," Slippy added. "His army is getting gigantic." "Sounds like we'd better get started then!" Falco said as he folded his wings together. "It's settled," Fox concluded the discussion. "Tomorrow we'll start taking out as many divisions and advance forces as we can. Hopefully we can whittle down Andross before his invasion can begin." The rest of the night was oddly placid. Anticipation ran high yet everyone also felt relaxed--safe aboard Great Fox, their small sanctuary in what was becoming so dangerous a solar system. More adventures were about to unfold for the new Star Fox team. Author: STARFOXANDWOLF Subject: Earth Invasion-Prequel Posted: JULY 21, 1998 22:18 This story maybe a little late to FJ's IS, but it is better then nothing, and could be...worth the wait. Wolf is out of the retirement home and back in business! Andross walked across the control lair to a window and stared out into the gaping universe home to millions of billions of creatures. He looked at one particularly hard. He used his Techo-Eye Laser zoom and saw one planet out of nine. "Earth," he whispered. Then laughed. A cackiling dry laugh. He slapped his hands together and went upstairs to the fighting bridge. He looked down and saw one of his fighters running by. " You," Andross said. The once running and careless soldier, stopped and felt his blood freeze and ice up. He turned around slowly feeling sweat beginning to fall from his head down to his cheek. " Yes...you majesty?" He trembled and shook. " Call the Liuetenant for me. I need to talk to him about something." The soldier nearl lept for joy but contained seeing that Andross would not pity and slice his head off letting the blood slowly drip from his once attatched neck. " yes, sir!" the soldier yelled and ran down to the docking bay to get the flight lieutenant. Andross paced back and forth. " This will have to work. Earth will fall weakly to my knees and beg for their most desperate mercy... I will-" Andross was cut off by the Lieutenant breathing hard as he tried not to keep Andross waiting. " Ah yes...Lieutenant Copper...I will take failure as an option. Do you understand? My factory in Macbeth was destoryed by the bastard Fox McCloud and his patethic group of mercenaries. I want the first strike on this little blue planet to be at ease. Send 1,000,000 million minions down and call for the Milleniums...I need good bounty hunters in case Fox and his friends show up..." " Yes, sir..." The Lieutenant answered. He left while Andross went to the balcony of the fighting birdge and looked out to the heavy darkness lit by bright stars. " My time is here..."
