Author: GUACOMOLI Subject: Starfox 2, Chapter 1. Posted: APRIL 17, 1999 08:43 The following is a little story that I thought up. Some of it may sound cheesy I'm only 11. But, here goes. "Congratulations, Mr. McCloud", boomed the deep voice of General Pepper as Fox McCloud walked up to the podium where he was standing. "Thanks to you and your team's corageous efforts, Corneria and the Lylat System is safe once again." Much clapping was in order as the General and the Mercenary Fighter Jockey shook hands. "Well, all's well that ends well," exclaimed the irrepressible Slippy. "As long as we get paid for all that "Courage," said Falco. Everyone shot him a stern glance, except Pepper. "Oh, you will, you will. You'll recieve 64 credits for every enemy downed." After the ceremony was complete, and the team had collected their dough, they headed for the Great Fox. Suddenly a voice shouted out from behind them. "Fox!" They turned. It was Bill, obviously coming to congratulate Fox on his accomplishment. "Bill! Great to see you!" Said Fox. Bill smiled. "Yeah, you bet, Fox. I heard about your victory at Venom right when I was practicing my dart-throwing. A little funny, because my dart-target is a big picture of Andross." Bill flipped a coin in the air, which he had been holding as he came up. "Too bad you didn't join the C.A. That was a great opportunity, Fox." Peppy shook his head at Bill's comment. "Naugh, that just isn't like us. Which reminds me, Bill, did you really get promoted to Garrison captain after Katina?" Bill nodded. "Yes, as a matter of fact I did. Actually, that was after I helped you out at Solar. Got promoted on account of initiative. Odd, some guys do that and are punished for it." He shrugged. "Well, congratulations!" Said Slippy. Suddenly Fox's comm beeped. It was Rob64. "The Great Fox is awaiting orders, sir.". Fox began to speak. "Sorry, but we gotta go now, Bill. We oughta get together some time." Bill thought for a moment. "Okay. Howabout....hmmm...Friday the 13th?" Falco gave a grimace. "Isn't that bad luck?" He asked, trying to get an excuse not to go. "Oh, don't be silly", said Slippy. "That's just some superstitious old nonsense". Fox was willing to accept it, though. "All right, then howabout the 12th?" Falco slapped his head as everybody nodded. "So be it," exclaimed Bill. "Howabout 7 o'clock, at my place on Katina?" Everyone seemed to like the idea, besides Falco that is. So the Starfox team departed, with Falco feeling stupid caught in his own cleverness. Author: GUACOMOLI Subject: Starfox 2, Chapter 2 Posted: APRIL 18, 1999 17:19 A couple days passed, and at about 6:30 the team was going about their routine activities as they sped to Katina. Everyone was in good spirits. That is, if you believe in the phrase "What you don't know can't hurt you." Fox happened to be on the bridge with Falco at the time. He was studying a small weapons screen. Some tiny voice at the back of his mind was telling him that something was wrong... "Why do I get a bad feeling about this?" He muttered, still intent on the monitor. "Now what is it, Fox?" Asked Falco in a voice conveying controlled annoyance. Fox continued to study the screen. "I dunno...just got this hunch...like somethin's going to happen..." Further conversation was cut short as an angry Peppey yelped from the repair bay. "Dag-Nabbit Slippy! Watch where ya drop that dang wrench!" "Sorry, Pep! I guess my hands are just slippery, No pun intended." Peppy sighed. "Why do we have a frog for a mechanic?" "That's a Toad," said Slippy. Falco yelled to the arguing pair in the repair bay. "Are you two still working on Peppy's ship?! Jeez, it's been half a week! How badly did you scorch that thing, Pep?" Before Peppy or Slippy could answer, Rob64 came onto the bridge. "Er, excuse me for one moment," he said, making sure to be loud so Peppy and Slippy would here him from the repair bay. "We are now within 1000 kilometers of Katina. I suspect that you will want to open a channel with Garrison Commander Bill, Mr. McCloud?" "Yes," Said Fox. "Thanks." Bill's friendly face appeared on the main screen. "Hey Fox. Right on time." Fox smiled. "How could we be late with Rob64 around?" Said Fox. Falco continued to keep his amrs folded. "Is he EVER late?" Bill laughed, something that he seemed to do a lot. "Well, we've got the landing bay cleared, Fox. You can land any time now--What the heck?..." Suddenly Bill's image was cut off. "Bill!" Shouted Fox. "Dang-it, I knew something like this was going to happen!!" "Well, so much for dinner..." Said Falco. But he was speaking to thin air, as Fox was already headed for the docking bay. Their happy time was at an end. Author: GUACOMOLI Subject: Starfox 2, Chapter 3 Posted: APRIL 19, 1999 15:37 The Team immediately dashed toward the docking bay. "Wait a minute!" Said Peppy. "I don't have a ship! Mine's still in repair!" Sudenly the ground seemed to tremble. Rob64's computer-generated voice boomed over the speaker system. "Great Fox's shields are down to 60." he said. "The ship is now in 'Red Alert' mode." Fox grimaced. "Peppy, why don't you man the ship's guns!" Peppy needed no second biding. He immediately dashed to the gun port section. Soon the 3 remaining Arwings were under way. "Check your G-Diffuser systems!" Said Fox. "Right. All systems Go." Said Falco. "Ditto," Said Slippy. Not another word passed before a blast shook Fox's Ship. "Break Formation! Evasive manuevers!" He said. The 3 fighter jockeys threw their ships in a barrel roll and spread out. Fox flipped off his comm-link. It wasn't long before 3 enemy fighters were getting behind him. He slowed a bit and let them catch up to him. Then, as shots began to ring around his ship, he threw it in a tight sommersault, coming up right behind his former persuers. he charged up his laser, then got a lock on the middle one. The enemy fighters veered quickly in 3 seperate directions. Fox continued to pursue his target, then let go of the trigger. A charged seeker-laser flew from his Arwing and slammed the enemy ship. Quickly he turned his ship sideways and turned to the left, looking for more enemies. He picked up on 4 enemy fighters zooming in on Slippy's tail. "Oh no!" Shouted Slippy. Fox wasted no time. He dropped in behind the enemy fighters and let off a few blasts from his guns. BLAM! One of Slippy's persuers was caught by Fox's furious blasts and exploded in a fiery puff of fire. Fox kept up the pressure, taking out two more. Slippy managed to finish the other one by flying through another enemy formation, thus forcing the other fighter to crash into his own comrades. "Nice move, Slippy!" Shouted Fox into his comm. The battle went on like this, the team racking up many a kill, but the enemy kept on coming. "Phew! We can't keep this up forever!" Said Peppy from the Great Fox. Fox was beginning to realize that there were simply too many to fight off. "But Bill's still down there! We can't leave Katina to fall into enemy hands!" Said Slippy. "We'll all fall into enemy hands if we don't get out of here!" Said Falco. Fox got an idea. "Alright, here's an idea," He said as he vaped another 2 enemy fighters. "Peppy and Rob take the Great Fox and get out of here. That should attract attention away from Katina. You can go to the Asteroid field, that way it'll be easier to defend yourselves. Meanwhile we'll finish off these scum at Katina, rally the remainder of the Garrison with Bill and head for Corneria to round up the forces there. Then we head for the Asteroid Field and ambush the enemy forces attacking you, ultimately routing them." There was a silence for a moment. Then Falco spoke. "Shouldn't we find out who's behind all this?" He asked. Fox disagreed. "Nay, we'd best try and fight him first." "So it's settled," Said Peppy. "Let's move!" With that, the Great Fox slammed itself into hyperspace, headed for the Asteroid field, as Fox, Slippy and Falco flew down to Katina.
